iOS 5 Programming in Adobe E-Book format
For those who have asked, the Adobe E-Book version of iOS 5 Programming is available now from Wiley. I’m not certain yet when the Kindle version will be out, but I’m looking into it, along with getting a list of what other formats are planned.
Really looking forward to reading your book. Looks great. Looking around at its retail availability further convinces me of the nuttiness of the book industry. Here in Australia, by far the cheapest option is a paper copy from Amazon (US). To buy locally would cost nearly 4 times as much. The ebook is substantially pricier than on paper from Amazon. Ideally I’d have a paper/ebook bundle, but they seem to be thin on the ground.
I’d be interested to know if any of the options nets you guys (the authors) a better percentage than the others.
@Cris Bennett Thanks for visiting. I’ll pass along the paper/ebook bundle idea. There have been several requests for that.
As far as the best net for the authors, time will tell somewhat (computing these things can be complicated and depend on some things the authors aren’t directly involved in). Direct purchases from Wiley should have the highest per-unit net. It’s also the most expensive. Frankly, I’d rather get the book into more people’s hands.
For anyone who wants to help us out, the best possible thing to do is favorably rate and review the book on sites like Amazon. In pure financial terms, the difference in selling one way or another is dwarfed by the value of selling another copy. But the real reason is because I really want the book to be useful to a lot of people. Even if it sells like gangbusters, it probably won’t make as much as the contracts I turned away while I was working on it. But if it helps a lot of people develop better code, that’s huge to me both personally and professionally.
Thanks again for the interest. I hope you enjoy the book.
Thanks, that all makes sense. I’ll be sure to review/rate when I’ve read enough to do so. Judging from what I’ve read on your blog here, I’d be surprised if my review didn’t turn out favourable!
